Medium to tall, short-lived leguminous perennial. Spreading rhizomatous growth habit makes it useful for riparian restoration and erosion control. Slow to establish. Adapted to a wide range of soils and conditions, but prefers moist welldrained sites. Not tolerant of extreme cold.
