Juncus effusus

Juncus effusus

Common rush

Also called Soft rush. Cool season, tall growing, native rhizomatous perennial provides very good shoreline protection with its dense fibrous root system. Generally occurs in freshwater to brackish marshes, swamps, ditches, and moist seasonal wetlands. Tolerance to low pH and heavy metals allows it to survive in polluted conditions.
