Lolium perenne Perennial ryegrass

Cool season, short-lived perennial bunchgrass adapted to a wide variety of sites where moisture is adequate. Establishes quickly and easily. Excellent palatability and often is used in pasture and range improvement blends. Extensively bred for use as a turf grass. Tetraploid versus Diploid Tetraploid varieties are more vigorous, less stemmy, have higher digestibility and better regrowth than diploid varieties. Diploid varieties have finer leaf blades and tiller more aggressively. Tetraploid varieties should be used for pasture and range, while diploid types are better suited for turf.
