Small to medium sized deciduous tree whose height depends on its depth to a water table. Occurs as a shrub on plains and slopes with roots extending as deep as 60 ft., while along streams roots are much shallower and plants will grow to 30 ft. Foliage and pods are eaten by livestock and wildlife.
