Introduced (naturalized) drought tolerant semi-evergreen perennial; full sunlight to partial shade. Deep blue flowers bloom profusely May through mid-July, with fresh flowers borne daily. Common in the western U.S.

Appar

Selected for release because of outstanding vigor, beauty and overall competitiveness. Withstands drought and has been widely used for reclamation and beautification. Seed production is twice that of Maple Grove. Appar was originally released as native flax Linum lewisii but later was found to be a naturalized introduced collection. (Released 1980, source of ecotype: Black Hills, SD)
