Warm season, long lived, perennial bunchgrass adapted to well drained sites. Drought tolerant but cold sensitive. May be aggressive on some sites. Very palatable and nutritous to livestock, and withstands heavy grazing. Commonly used as a pasture grass in upland areas of the southwest deserts.
