Formerly known as Trichachne californica. Warm season, very drought tolerant, perennial bunchgrass adapted to deep well-drained soils. Extremely palatable to livestock and very rarely found in pure stands. Will repeatedly go to seed when moisture is available. Its white cotton-like seed head is attractive, making this plant useful as an ornamental grass. Also useful for improving rangelands.
