Formerly known as Agropyron riparium. Cool season, drought-tolerant, strongly rhizomatous, perennial sod-former similar to ssp. lanceolatus but occupies slightly wetter sites and is more productive in slightly heavier soils. Also, not as palatable as ssp. lanceolatus.
