Formerly known as Sambucus cerulea. Deciduous shrub, 6 to 20 ft. tall occurring on moist soils along streams, canyon bottoms and hillsides from near sea level to 9,000 ft. elevation. Good palatability to livestock and wildlife and its berries are sought by birds, small mammals and humans.
