Formerly known as Agrostis palustris. Cool season, stoloniferous perennial, sometimes with short rhizomes. Grows well in moist sites and can tolerate acidic conditions well. Widely adapted throughout the U.S. Used for pastures, meadows and irrigated areas. Most often used for lawns and especially golf course putting greens.
