Formerly known as Castilleja chromosa. Drought tolerant perennial; full sunlight. Red, scarlet or yellow bracts generally bloom April to June. Occurs from valleys to foothills in dry open sites anywhere from 2,000 ft. to 7,000 ft., commonly in association with greasewood, sagebrush and oak.
