PLS and Planting Rates

Knowing the PLS percentage allows you to know with near exactness how many seeds you are putting in an area, and can make your seed order more precise.

If you have a copy of the Granite Seed Catalog, refer to the Species Characteristics Charts on pages 59-78, where the column for “Seeding Rate” shows a typical range of PLS pounds per acre for all grass and forb species.

You or your sales representative at Granite Seed can calculate the exact number of pounds you need based on the PLS percentage, taking into consideration the method of planting (i.e. more seed for broadcasting than for drilling) and the final number of seeds per square foot that you desire.
